So the story goes…Sometime around 1910 an Arts & Craft artisan was camping with her son on the Santa Barbara beach now known as Leadbetter. They slept a peaceful night, but at sunrise the lady’s son woke her and in great excitement pointed at a shimmering mirage caused by the refraction of light against the gently rolling Pacific Ocean waves. The artisan was so impressed by this imagery that when she returned to her studio she immediately went to work recreating the mirage in art glass. Landmark’s reproduction is 100% art glass shade with the individual pieces of glass hand-cut, copper foiled and hand set to create the slight illusion of a Pacific beach mirage. The colors are all earth tones: Aqua Blue and Desert Sand – beach and ocean. The metalwork is forged steel with a Dark Bronze finish. 10” structure height, 16” shade diameter, 3 x 60-watts for good light, comes with 2 x 12” and 1 x 6” rods for a great variety of hanging heights.
